Thinkers Think Flexibly

Flexibility is the ability to think differently or to see an issue from more than one perspective. It's what makes the human brain more powerful than machines that are limited to only one way of operating.  It allows our thinkers to remain open to ideas that may lead to new understandings.  With a flexible mind students are able to develop a larger tool kit of diverse strategies to solve complex problems.

We encourage our flexible thinkers to consider:

  • What would happen if__________? What if not?
  • How do others think about this same problem?
  • How is my solution similar or different than my peer's?
  • Would my solution still work if...?"
  • Who would think differently than me and why would their thoughts be different?
  • How can I make my idea better using what I already know?
