Dr. Sakhawat Hussain is working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (former Department of Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering), University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

He has received his Ph.D. degree in Physics (Optoelectronics) from University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (UNS), France in 2014 under supervision of Professor Philippe Vennéguès and co-supervision of Dr. Benjamin Damilano. During his Ph.D. studies, he worked at the research laboratory of Centre de Recherche sur l'Hétéro-Epitaxie et ses Applications (CRHEA), France under opto-electronics group. His research focus was on structural and optical characterization of GaN/InGaN/AlGaN heterostructures for yellow-green light emitting diodes.

Earlier, he has received his B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Dr. Hussain has his research interest in group III-Nitride semiconductor materials and their applications, semiconductor physics, optoelectronics and microwave engineering. He has published research articles in Applied Physics Letter, Applied Physics Express and Journal of Crystal Growth, among others.
