About Me...

This summer I moved to Austin, Texas. Raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, I am a midwestern girl with Texas roots. My dad and his family were from South-Central Texas, and my entire life I would hear stories from my dad and grandparents about how amazing Texas was. Between the stories and many family vacations, I developed a love for Texas, which left me dreaming about one day living here. I am so glad that day is finally here!

Education: I graduated from Lewis Central Senior High School in 2008. After graduating, I attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO , where I majored in Elementary Education, minored in Early Childhood Education, and received an endorsement in Reading. At the end of my studies at NWMSU, I completed a semester of student teaching in the Bellevue Public School District in Bellevue, NE. During this time, I had the opportunity to teach 6th-grade students and kindergarten students. I absolutely loved working with children on both ends of the elementary spectrum.  In December of 2012, I completed my student teaching experiences and graduated with my BSED in Elementary Education.

In August of 2013, I began my career in education. I taught 1st Grade in Glenwood, IA for the past three years. I am so excited to begin my 4th year in education teaching 3rd grade here at DSES! I cannot wait to get to know each student and to witness the growth they will make this year!

I believe that each child is unique, and that their individuality is something to be celebrated. Every child needs an environment which is stimulating, safe, and secure in order to ensure growth and maturity. As an educator, I want to help students meet their fullest potential, as well as, develop a life-long love of learning.
