Rehoboth PTSA Meeting, May 8, 2019

Palmer River Library

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by Susan Bogosian.

Welcome to all and especially to some new attendees, it’s always great to have people attend a PTSA meeting for the first time. We are so glad teachers are encouraging parents to become involved.

1.  Review of minutes from the April meeting will occur next month since we do not have them ready for tonight.

2.  Principal’s report -   Mrs. Miguel thanked the PTSA for all the support for enrichment at Palmer River.  She announced upcoming events and dates for field trips, Fourth grade night, Boosterthon, field day, etc.

Mrs. Miguel gave an update on the School council and the goals they have and topics they have been working on this year.

Mr. Pirraglia is out of town and Mr. She is at another school event tonight.  The Beckwith report was emailed and read aloud and is attached to the minutes.

3.  Treasurer’s report was given by Nancy Breault.  See attached.

4.  Committee Reports:

Talent show -  Kate gave update on number of acts, two shows required.  Nate Brown will once again DJ and the cafeteria food service company will provide the ice cream.  All is planned and under control.

Used book sale – Friday, June 14th at Palmer River only due to the number and titles of the books.  Mrs. Niguel inquired about the content of the books, etc.  A donation box will be put out in the office for collection.

Pep Rally / FUN RUN -  The program will run the same way it did last year.  The pep rally is May 28th and the FUN RUN is June 6th.

Staff Appreciation luncheons -  Beckwith is Thursday, May 23rd and Palmer River is Friday, May 24th.  All volunteers are using sign up.com for donations.

Beckwith Bookfair will run May 20th – 24th.  Volunteers can sign up to help on line.

5.  New Business –

Mr. K asks the PTSA to financial support the renting of inflatables for field day at Palmer River.  The cost is $1,000.00 for two pits for gaga ball and one sixty-foot obstacle course inflatable.  A motion is made, seconded and passed unanimously.

Kindergarten Teachers Request -  the need for mulch and new equipment is desperately needed  in the small playground used by the preschool and Kindergarten students.   The teachers are asking if the PTSA can fund these purchases.  After a lengthy discussion Mrs. Miguel suggests that she speaks to the teachers and ask them to submit a wish list for our consideration.

Golf Ball Drop -  Jenn M.  discuss this event and the how complicated scheduling the date has become due to the availability of the helicopter and the facility; it will be either Thursday the 13th or Wednesday the 12th.  She will keep us updated.  Mr. K and Kate offered to help her secure the golf balls needed.

6.  Adjournment -  A motion was made to adjourn the meeting; it was seconded and all were in favor.
