Park Issues

The Friends of Alexandra Park represent the views of Park users to the Board of the Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust, through a representative on the Board’s Consultative Committee, and we comment, when appropriate, on Planning Applications which affect the Park.

On some issues, we ask our members for their comments, through our Newsletters and this website.

The following links will take you to some of the issues which the Friends have addressed since 2010.  They are in order of the most recent issues first.

New Awards for our Park!

Green Flag Award Peoples Choice

Alexandra Park has been voted one of the nations top ten favourite parks.

"The Green Flag Award, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy, Keep Scotland Beautiful and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, is the international mark of quality green space and the People’s Choice poll reflects just how much communities up and down the country value their parks and green spaces.

International Green Flag Award Manager Paul Todd said: “The Green Flag Awards are judged every year by an army of more than 800 volunteer judges, but the People’s Choice is the public’s opportunity to vote for their favourite parks and it is wonderful that more than 30,000 people have done just that this year as the scheme celebrates its 20th Anniversary."

Success Again! London in Bloom GOLD Award

Statement from Park Manager, Mark Evison:

Great news, Alexandra Park achieved Gold and category winner in the Large Park of the Year (over 25 acres) category.

This category included parks such as Holland Park, Golders Hill Park and Victoria Park.

The judges complimented the hard work and dedication of the staff, contractors and friends group (that's us!). Well done to all and thanks for your assistance.
