The Friends of Alexandra Park is run by a committee, and other volunteers.

Volunteering in Alexandra Park

There are several ways that volunteers can help in Alexandra Park:

he Information Centre, in The Grove, is run by our volunteers and is open on Sundays and some Saturdays.
The Conservation Volunteers work in the grounds of Alexandra Park on the second Sunday of every month.
The Friends run monthly work days in the grounds.  Details are emailed to members a few weeks in advance.

We welcome any willing volunteers!

You do not need to make a long-term commitment – it is helpful for us to know who would be happy to be contacted when help is needed, for one-off activities such as:

  • Helping to move chairs out for a band concert
  • Practical conservation work in the Park (litter and bramble clearing)
  • Staffing the Park Information Centre for a couple of hours, or occasional stalls e.g. at the Farmers Market
  • Participating in a visitor counting and survey day (with the Trust)

For any of the above, you could Contact the Friends, or leave your phone number at the Information Centre, so that we can compile a list of people to contact when a specific need occurs.

Maybe you could use your specialist skills to help with one of the following:

  • Building book and display shelves for the Park Information Centre.
  • Organising and displaying information in the Park Information Centre.
  • Gathering and selecting photos and organising the printing of the Friends’ Calendar.
  • Organising and/or leading a Park activity.
  • Running the Friends’ Facebook Page.
  • Regularly distributing publicity information to newspapers and websites.

If you would be willing to help with any of these activities, please Contact the Friends or come in and talk with us at the Information Centre.
