What is a Makerspace Kit?
Makerspace Kits support inquiry, collaboration, hands-on learning, coding, hypothesis creation and testing, tinkering, and critical thinking. They can also be used as a creative challenge, classroom center, or independent student project. Most of the Library Services kits include books that allow teachers and students to explore related concepts. Provide opportunities for students to personalize their learning! Bring the maker movement into your classroom, library, computer lab, or program!
How can I get one?
Go to lion.dpsk12.org and search for "makerspace kits" to see a list of available items. You can also contact Classroom Library at 720.423.1841 or ETLSClassroomLibrary@dpsk12.org to find out what's available for check out.
Who can check out a kit?
Makerspace Kits can be checked out to any library staff or teacher.
How long is the checkout time?
Checkout time is one month.
How sturdy are the kits?
Most of the items are pretty sturdy, but they can still be broken or damaged. Please do not expose the items in this kit to extreme temperatures (don’t leave it in your car, in a sunny window, etc.), immerse anything in water, or get them dirty.
Will you send the kit to me using intercampus mail like you do with the book baskets?
No. Due to the size, cost, and fragile nature of the kits, we require the person checking them out come to Library Services - Acoma Campus to check out the kits. Someone in Library Services is available to help you check out or return a kit Monday through Friday 7:00am to 4:30pm. Please call or email before coming so we can make sure to be ready when you arrive.
Can I just send the kit back using intercampus mail?
