Mrs. Shepard

Hi!  My name is Wendy Shepard and I am the Multi Intensive-Severe (MI-S) Special Education teacher at Merrill Middle School.  I have been teaching at Merrill for the past 6 years.  I started working with students with special needs when I was a Sophomore in High School and have continued working in some capacity with students with special needs for 32 years.  I am a certified Special Olympics Track and Field Coach and coached girls basketball and volleyball.  I have been married to my High School Sweetheart for 28 years. I have a daughter who recently moved home from New York. My son is a Sophomore at Green Mountain High School in Lakewood and keeps busy playing hockey for the DU Jr Pioneers and Columbine High School.  My family loves the ocean, swimming, traveling, camping and participating in athletics.  My favorite television show is The Amazing Race.  My favorite book is The Painted House by John Grisham.  I love Children's Literature!  I do not have much free time but when I do I like to scrapbook and spend time in my swimming pool.  I love Volleyball, both Six Man and Beach.  I participated in the 1984 and 1986 Junior Olympics for Volleyball.  A funny fact about myself:  I HATE to cook but LOVE cooking with my students!  Other fun facts about my family are:  my daughter is a Final Four Participant and received All-American honors in Volleyball, her husband played on Serbia's under 20 World Cup team, my son was ranked third in the World for Horseshoes when he was 8, my mother in law is a five time World Champion in Horseshoes and was featured on ESPN this summer and my husband grew up throwing horseshoes and sled dog racing.
