Writing Lit Standard 7

Grades 6-8:
Conduct short research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question), drawing on several sources and generating additional related, focused questions that allow for multiple avenues of exploration.

 Exploring Business  Research and choose a career.  Include research findings like wages, outlook, etc.  Share why the student may feel that this would be a good career for them (matching interests, desired lifestyle, etc.).(informational/argument)
 Introduction to Business  Research expected lifetime earnings, potential of various educational levels--high school dropout, high school graduate, technical diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, etc.  Create a bar chart showing these potential earnings.  Write a reflection on what this information means to the student personally. (graphic interpretation/argument)
   
 
Grades 9-10:
Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question) or solve a problem, narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.

 Management  Choose a company to follow in the stock market.  Over a semester, follow the stock prices, current news, etc. for the company.  Present information as to your prediction of the future of the stock and its company using graphs, images, etc. (graphic interpretation/informational/argument)
