    • Use patterns or structure to make sense of mathematics and connect prior knowledge to similar situations and extend to novel situations.
    • Analyze a complex problem by breaking it down into smaller parts.
    • Reflect on the problem as a whole and shift perspective as needed.

Careers Research a chosen career and look at the salary range for that career.  Using that salary range, calculate net pay for a month and discuss the level of satisfaction from the amount. 
Computer Applications Develop a spreadsheet based on a given topic.  Read the spreadsheet in terms of words, not numbers, and discuss what the numbers really mean.  Create a graph to show the results and discuss the impact.
Intro to Business Research a company/business.  Explain their success or failure.
Careers Choose a career.  Analyze salary trends per state for a five year period to determine trends and causes for such trend.
Intro to Business Compare prices and product size for a two (or more) year period.  Write a report outlining possible trends/patterns and causes for such trends. Explain the impact on the business and the consumer.
Intro to Business Given supply and demand data for a product, create a chart and analyze trends/patterns.

Personal Financial Management Analyze a credit card statement.  Figure out the charges, the interest rate charged and any fees.  Figure out the actual cost of itmes purchased when paying on credit.
Intro to Business Play a game (such as the Lemonade Stand) and explain how the decisions you make impact the company as a whole.
Accounting Explain any of the financial statements and what the numbers mean to the company and to their investors.
Intro to Business Choose a specific stock. Anlayze the stock price for five years to determine patterns and possible causes for changes in stock price.
Intro to Business Examine GDP per capita for a three to five year period.  Describe any patterns and possible reasons for those patterns. Provide explanations for changes in GDP.
Personal Finance Analyze home mortgage interest rates for a three year period.  Write a report on possible trends/patterns.

 Activity
Personal Financial Management Choose a career and calculate the net pay per month (taking time to discuss taxes).  Using the monthly income, look for a house and a car, based on how much you can afford.  (See attached documents.)
Business Management Complete a simulation ("Mean Jeans") and make decisions based on your business sales, income, costs, etc.
Personal Finance Complete a checking account reconciliation.
Accounting Given three monthly income statements, determine a pattern of revenue and expenses, examining increase and/or decreases for each account.
Personal Finance Analyze a six month personal budget, calculating differences in budgeted and actual amounts to determine any patterns in the differences.  Write a report explaining the results.
Marketing Given quarterly sales reports, analyze the sales information by salesperson and as a total to determine possible trends/patterns.
