Needs Assessment

After three years of substantial investment in technology infrastructure, including district-wide WiFi, network electronics and bandwidth upgrades, the Westby Area School District is in great need of investing in devices for our end-users.  Teacher workstations in the Westby Elementary School are due for replacement, and teacher workstations for the Westby Area Middle School will be due within two years.  Student lab workstation and classroom workstation replacements have been postponed in the past few years, and all are overdue for replacement.

These needs present us with the opportunity to reevaluate the need for student labs and the possibility of replacing them with a 1:1 or Bring Your Own Device solution.

Regardless of the hardware needs, the district recognizes a need for providing ample opportunity for staff professional development.  This includes establishing a basic level of staff technology literacy, and encouraging staff to develop technology proficiency going forward.
