Welcome to the website for the Highway 401/40 Interchange Reconfiguration and Highway 401 Pavement Reconstruction in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent The Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) has retained Dillon Consulting Limited to complete the Detailed Design and Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study of the approved design for the reconfiguration of the Highway 401/40 Interchange and reconstruction of 10 km of Highway 401 eastbound lanes in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. The project is being undertaken to improve the operational
and capacity needs of this section of Highway 401 and Highway 40 and will accommodate the future widening of Highway 401 to eight lanes. This includes

The detailed design and class EA study will build upon the Preliminary Design and the previously approved Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) (2009) and TESR Addendum (2013) to further develop and refine engineering and environmental components of the project, including construction staging and traffic management. This project will be coordinated with an adjacent bridge rehabilitation project (Project Reference: WP 3084-11-00). |
