Internship Title: Education and Events Intern

Reports to: Environmental Education Coordinator, Tracy Page

Location: DeVries Nature Conservancy

Job Summary: The intern will work closely with the Environmental Education Coordinator, and on occasion the Executive Director on educational programming, special events and other tasks. Duties will include helping to plan and run preschool programs, homeschool programs, monthly special events, two weeks of an art/nature summer camp (summer interns), planning and curriculum design, clerical duties, and visitor studies. This is an unpaid internship. Working with your university to establish the possibility for college credit is an option. Applicants must have a strong interest in science, good communication skills and the ability to work with people of all ages.


 

Requirements: Applicants must be current or recent university students. Primary study areas could include education, recreation, interpretation, environmental science, biology, etc. Internship dates are flexible but should include the weeks of June 12-28 for summer internships. Winter semester and fall semester internships are also available. Interns must commit to a 6 week minimum, with no maximum; and a 10 hour/week minimum with a 40 hour/week maximum. Position can include some weekends and possible evenings. The intern must be self-directed, able to work well with others and alone, have good organizational skills and efficiency. Public speaking skills and customer service ability is needed. Free on-site housing is available; a security deposit is required and linens and kitchenware are the responsibility of the intern.

Internship Title: Wildlife, or Farm & Garden Intern

Reports to: Environmental Education Coordinator, Tracy Page

Job Summary: The intern will work closely with the Environmental Education Coordinator, the Executive Director and/or the Garden Manager. Tasks are flexible adn can be catered to the intern. This is an unpaid internship. Working with your university to establish the possibility for college credit is an option. Applicants must have a strong interest in science, good communication skills and the ability to work with people of all ages.

Primary study areas could include ecology, wildlife biology, farm/crop related sciences, environmental science, biology, etc. Internship dates are flexible.
