Beatriz Pérez de las Heras is Professor of European Union Law at the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain). Since July 2010, she is the holder of the Jean Monnet Chair in Interdisciplinary Studies on European Integration. From 2013 until 2016, she was the Academic Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on European Union Law and International Relations. She currently coordinates the project of Jean Monnet Network on "European Union-Asia Pacific Dialogue: Promoting European Integration and Mutual Knowledge across Continents" (2019-2023), 

PhD in Law (University of Deusto), she accomplished postgraduate studies on European Community Law at the Centre Européen Universitaire in Nancy (France), where she obtained the D.E.S.S and the D.E.A en Droit Communautaire.

Prof. Pérez de las Heras has been the Director of the European Studies Institute at the University of Deusto from 1996 until 2010, and Director of the Transnational Law Department since 1999 until 2013. She has also served as Vice-Dean of International Relactions and Research at the School of Law since 2013 until 2015.

            She is currently Principal Researcher of the research team "Integración Europea y Derecho Patrimonial en un contexto global". Since 2009, she is Editor-in Chief of Cuadernos Europeos de Deusto Journal,

  As a visiting lecturer, she has taught at the Universities of Pau et du Pays de l’Adour, Amiens, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Oslo and the Iberoamericana in Mexico City. 

She has also stayed as a visiting scholar at the University of Oregon (School of Law, July 2009), at the University of Georgetown (Law Center, July-August 2012),  the University of Fordham (School of Law, July- August 2013),  the Boston College (School of Law, July-August 2014) and the Florida International University (School of International & Public Affairs, July-August 2016). 

She has delivered lectures and made presentations in international conferences and forums.  She is the author of various publications on European legal issues.
