Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year

Roosevelt would like to introduce our new principal, Mr. Daniel Martinez.

Mr. Daniel Martinez is a Coachella Valley native. He grew up in Indio, where as a child, he attended school at Hoover, Jefferson Middle School, and Indio High School.  After graduating from Indio High School, he stayed in the valley and attended college at California State University, San Bernardino, where he earned both his Bachelors and Masters degrees. Mr. Martinez began his career at Desert Sands, in 2000, as a 4th grade teacher here at Roosevelt. He then transferred over to Dr. Carreon, to help open the new school. Prior to his new position as the Principal at Roosevelt, Mr. Martinez was the Assistant Principal at Desert Ridge Academy.

Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, located in Indio, California, services students from transitional kindergarten through 5th grade. We are dedicated to providing a safe learning environment where students are both physically and emotionally safe. This is achieved through a collaborative effort with students, staff, and parents.

Every member of the Roosevelt Team is dedicated to several essential beliefs. We do not make excuses. We accept the responsibility for all students' learning. We do not blame others. We do not blame poverty, ethnicity, language barriers, students, or parents when our students are not learning. Instead, we look in the mirror and hold ourselves accountable.

Our professional learning community researches best practices and engages in action research to ensure that our instructional practices are continually improving. We meet as grade levels and across grade levels to share resources and ideas to improve student achievement.

Students are provided with a rigorous academic education with a well-structured intervention program to support those that need more time. The sophisticated integration of technology promotes choice and autonomy among our students, which, in turn, results in authentic learning. Students in grades 2-5 participate in a 1-to-1 technology environment with every student using their assigned Chromebook.
