¡Hola a todos y bienvenidos a mi sitio de web!
I am originally from Mandan, North Dakota and moved to Rochester, MN in order to be surrounded by trees and hills rather than flat land for miles!
I began studying Spanish in high school and fell in love with the language and culture. I continued studying Spanish at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and graduated with a major in Spanish Education. I also studied in Segovia, Spain for a semester and completed a cooperative learning experience in a local school there. I have worked at the Concordia Language Villages' "Lago del Bosque" (Lake of the Woods) summer camp as both a counselor and high school credit teacher. Finally, I have also completed my Master's of Spanish with a concentration in Linguistics from New Mexico State University.
I enjoy traveling and teaching students about other languages and cultures. I have taken students abroad multiples times, twice to Spain once to Costa Rica, and once to Ecuador. We are going back to Spain in 2025, so reach out if you are interested in joining this adventure!

I believe that students learn best when they have many different opportunities to see the language used in context and reproduce it in various formats. The goal of each of my lessons is to increase the students' language abilities in reading, writing, listening and speaking along with developing an understanding of cultures around the world. When all of these aspects are combined in the world language classroom, students are able to expand their views of the world and develop as global citizens.
With those goals in mind, the grading in this class is a little different. Grades are earned based on a student's proficiency level, or what they are able to do and demonstrate in the language in each way in which we communicate (Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening). Assessments are graded on a scale of 1-5 in order to give students, myself, and parents a clear picture of what the student knows and can communicate. The table on the right shows a general breakdown of each proficiency score.
The goal is for students to show what they know and to be able to easily see how they can improve. Due to this, retakes are offered on all assessments.
