Music, Vocal Music, and Chorus Class students who did not provide me
with a parental note last week are needed to sing or play at Saturday's
75th Anniversary Mass at Delone Catholic. Bishop Ronald Gainer will be
our celebrant. Students should report to the Sheppard Gym at noon
(having eaten lunch before reporting.) Mass will begin at 1 p.m. Music
students will be excused around 2:45, after all our equipment is put
away. The public is invited to attend this special liturgy. Music
students who participate will be awarded double the usual number of
"Attitude/Contribution Points" given for regular school Masses in
appreciation for their contributions to this historic event.
students should wear their school uniforms (not band uniforms.) DCHS
polos from the summer uniform are OK, but please wear the skirts or long
khaki pants - not the uniform shorts. Since this date is so early in
the year, and I just distributed the list of mandatory music dates at
the beginning of September, I will be very lenient with students who
provided parental excuses. (Marching Band families were actually given
this date back in June.) I will not be so lenient with music students
who miss the October Open House, December Christmas practice or concert,
May (Spring) practice or concert, or Memorial Day Parade. All those
dates are marked with asterisks on the list of music events I
distributed to music students at the beginning of September and to music
parents at Back-to-School Night. A digital copy of the music dates is
attached to this email and posted on the DCHS Music Website. Parents
who know that their children will have to miss one of those mandatory
events should send in notes now - not the week before the event.Please
note that a new Delone regulation requires parental notes with
signatures to be sent in on paper from now on. Emails are no longer
sufficient to request excused absences.
One of the mandatory events on that list is actually for music parents - not students. We
request that at least one parent from each DCHS music family attend a
mandatory parent meeting in the DCHS cafeteria on Wednesday October 14 -
6:30-8:30 p.m. Important information for the year will be distributed.
Band percussionists and equipment managers should report to the
cafeteria by 5 p.m. this Friday. All other marching band members should
report by 5:15. Marching band members are reminded to wear their band
polos to the game on Friday. They may also be worn in school on Friday.
The marching band will perform Friday around 6:30 p.m.

The Music Association is requesting
that all music families donate either one 12 pack case of soda or one case of water.
Soda must be Coke products only including Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Root Beer,
Orange, Nestea, Mountain Dew or Powerade. Powerade must be in 20 oz bottles,
Soda pop must be in 12 oz cans and water must be in 16.9 oz
bottles. This will save the Music Association a great deal of money that can be put right back into the Delone Catholic Music program. Donations can be sent in to the band room.
