Common Sense Media
Margaret Keating Elementary School realizes the importance of being a good steward of technology.  We are making it a priority for all students to receive digital citizenship and literacy lessons.  To best support our efforts, our school district has partnered with Common Sense Education to provide resources for our students, staff and families within the Del Norte Unified School District as the first step, you may check out this link for Common Sense Media

School News & Event Information
  • After School Program Bus Departs 4:30 p.m. Daily 
  • Families are always invited to our regular Award Assemblies  to honor MKS students. 
12:55 pm - Minimum Days/Early Out - Staff Development every Wednesday - the regular bus will depart school grounds at approximately 12:59 p.m.  
IMPORTANT NOTE - Kindergarten Registration
Kindergartem registration begins for Margaret Keating students in the spring. Please feel free to stop by the office to talk to the secretary about the specifics of enrollment. There are several forms to be completed; information required from parents include proof of immunizations, birth certificate documentation and proof of residency in California. 

School Site Council
School Site Council meetings are held each month during the regular school year. All families are invited to come to learn about the council.  If you have questions, feel free to call the office for more information.

General Registration
Registration Packets are available in the Margaret Keating Elementary office; to register please bring your child's Birth Certificate, Immunization Record and Proof of Residency. The school office is open from 7:45 am to 4:00 pm during the school year.

Margaret Keating Telephone Calls
Feel free to contact the school office 464-0340 between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, the school secretary, will be happy to help you. The automatic voice message system will pick-up your call once the phone rings four times, so be certain to stay on the line.  Please leave a message, the telephone voice mail is checked routinely throughout the day to take your messages and return calls. After hours, you will be transferred to the After School Program, stay on the line and follow the prompts. 

Transportation Information
Contact the School District Transportation Department with  bus stop  location questions at 707-464-0250 for the Transportation Director, Derrick Campbell or 707-464-0251 for Dispatch.

The bus schedule is located on the Del Norte County Schools front web page, please take a look to find the time the school bus will stop near your home in Klamath or feel free to call the school office @ 464-0340.

After School Applications:
Registration / Application packets for the After School Program are available in the office during operating hours or from the coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Van Mechelen, in Room 11, call 464-0340 for more information.

Wednesdays are Minimum School Days  
Students are released at 12:55 p.m. to allow teachers and administrators to attend Staff Development meetings.

MKS offers kindergarten through sixth grade classes
The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is looking for volunteers to become involved in fun activities and assist with fundraising for our students.  Feel free to contact Elsie Wilder at 464-0340 or email her at if you are interested in helping.
