Homework

HOMEWORK

Each night your child will receive between 50-55 minutes of assigned homework.. With such a rigorous daily schedule full of instruction, students need that extra time to reinforce academic skills taught in class that day. Homework is a valuable tool for parents to view and assess their child's learning. It is also a great communication tool between teacher and parent. If you notice that your child is struggling with a concept at home, please jot me a note, so that I am able to sit down with them the next day and assist them. The last thing I want at home are frustrated 5th graders and frazzled parents! Here are the items to look for as homework each night:

* STUDENT PLANNER: All homework assignments, test dates, field trip dates, and important due dates/deadlines will be written in your child's planner. The planner serves as a tool not only for necessary communication between school and home, but also as a tool for students to learn the life skill of organization. Students are expected to fill in their planner first thing in each of their classes. Homework assignments and other important information is written on the whiteboard each day for students to copy into their planner. THE PLANNER IS TO BE REVIEWED AND SIGNED EACH NIGHT BY A PARENT/ADULT IN THE HOUSE. I DO COUNT THIS AS A NIGHTLY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT. IF YOUR CHILD FAILS TO COMPLETE THEIR HOMEWORK, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THEIR PLANNER- PLEASE JOT ME A QUICK NOTE IN THE PLANNER IF THIS OCCURS.

Please remember to send Thursday folders back to school the next day. If the folder is not returned on Friday, it will count as a missing assignment.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN YOUR CHILD'S SUCCESS!!!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO REVIEW AND SIGN YOUR CHILD'S PLANNER EACH NIGHT. A PARENT SIGNATURE COUNTS AS A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT!

STUDENTS SHOULD COME TO SCHOOL WITH 3-4 SHARPENED PENCILS EACH DAY. IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO SHARPEN THEIR PENCILS AT HOME EACH NIGHT.
