Early Childhood Instructor (ECI) : Lara Milton  It is with great excitement and joy that I have the pleasure and opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s classroom teacher.  This is my second year with the district however, I have more than ten years teaching experience and have spent many additional years working with families providing parenting education and working along side a collaborative at the state a local level to ensure early education quality standards are established and met. Early education is vital to later development and I feel honored to share this precious time with your child.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Colorado and am working toward a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education.
Early childhood education is my passion and I am dedicated to being a positive part of your child’s preschool experience. I look forward to partnering with you and sharing in your child’s early education.

Early Childhood Special Educator (ECSE): Katie Rutherford  This is my 2nd year in DCSD preschool and 5th year as an early childhood specialist in preschool in Colorado.  I was born in Montana, grew up outside of Phoenix and went to CSU and Gonzaga University and spent my time playing Division 1 volleyball.  I am getting married in September and my fiance and I have 2 labradors that keep us busy. I am excited for this upcoming school year and am looking forward to watching our preschoolers grow!

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP): Lauren Barnes My name is Lauren Barnes. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) new to the Douglas County School District this year, but so excited to be here! My husband, twins, and golden doodle "Ollie" reside in Castle Rock and we have been here for the past 5 years.  We love being outdoors hiking, biking, snowboarding, playing on playgrounds and just doing anything and everything outside or in the mountains. Colorado always felt like home even though our family live in Smithfield Virginia (ham capital of the world) and Richmond Virginia - so we uprooted! I can't wait to make this a great school year.

Occupational Therapist (OT): Laurie Richter This is my 14th year working in Douglas County Preschools. Prior to that I worked in the schools in Hawaii with students aged 3 to 21. Preschool is my absolute favorite age group to work with. It is so much fun to see the world through their eyes. Everything is new and exciting and there is NEVER a dull moment.  I was born and raised in Montana. I received my Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Dakota.  After receiving my Masters I took my first Occupational Therapy Job as a School Based OT in Hawaii. Although Hawaii was wonderful my husband and I decided to move back to the mainland to be closer to family and start a family of our own. We have two active boys ages 8 and 10 and two dogs.  Thank you so much for sharing your children with us. I look forward to a fun and successful school year!

Special Education Assistant Teacher (SA): Hayden Meyers - This is my 5th year of preschool with all my years being at Soaring Hawk. I have 2 boys of my own that are in 4th and 5th grade. I love being in the preschool classroom working and playing with kids! I look forward to this next great year.

Education Assistant Teacher (EA): Kathy Robinson - I was born and raised in Utah but consider myself a true Colorado native. My husband and I have enjoyed raising our 4 sons right here in Castle Rock the past 26 years. We are now empty nesters with 2 sons married, and two beautiful grand children. This is my 9th year with Douglas County Preschools as an Educational Assistant. I LOVE being surrounded by children and look forward to a joyful year with your preschoolers!
