Welcome to Sage Canyon Elementary: a Project Based Learning School:
Sage Canyon Elementary is proud to be a part of Colorado's Douglas County School District, where parents are provided the opportunity to choose the educational environment and programming that best meets their child's needs. The mission of Sage Canyon is to foster a supportive and challenging school community that fuels a contagious spark for learning and recognizes students as unique individuals.

PBL @ Sage Canyon

Here at Sage Canyon, we use a Project Based Learning approach to create a solid foundation of fundamental and higher order thinking skills through a structured curriculum that is consistent and aligned throughout the grade levels. Project Based Learning (PBL) is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges, simultaneously developing cross-curriculum skills while working in small collaborative groups. Because project-based learning is filled with active and engaged learning, it inspires students to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying. Research also indicates that students are more likely to retain the knowledge gained through this approach far more readily than through traditional textbook-centered learning. In addition, students develop confidence and self-direction as they move through both team-based and independent work.  For more information on Project Based Learning, please follow the PBL link in the navigation bar on the left.
