Mrs. Emmons - 3rd Grade

Emmons Explorers - 3rd grade adventures

Working with others, being voracious readers and being reflective learners and thinkers will be the framework of our learning as we study and access content in authentic and applicable ways.

I also incorporate my passion of traveling and National Parks into the third grade content areas. We do a huge unit, incorporating several content areas, on the Iditarod Race in Alaska. So much history and grade level content can be experienced through our National Parks and the Iditarod!

Our Class level Mission Statement:

Our grade level purpose is to:

  •   Try our best,
  • Be respectful and honest,

  • Have our classrooms be a joyful place to learn.

     We need to do:

  • STAR listening

  • Use our time wisely,

  • Work towards our goals.

To work together we will use:

  • the 7 Habits,

  • Our strengths to
    help each other.

Always be a LIGHTHOUSE!

Theodore Roosevelt:

  • “It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.”
  • “Believe you can and you're halfway there.”

About Mrs. Emmons
I have happily lived in Colorado for the last 25 years. I attended Cal State University, Long Beach and received all of my degrees from this university....a BA in Music with a Certificate in Music Therapy, a teaching credential and my Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught for 23 years and have taught first, third and fifth grade. Literacy is a passion area of mine. Reading deeply, broadly and with purpose will be woven throughout the day in all content areas.  I love teaching 3rd grade and will strive to make this a fantastic learning year for my students.

I have a wonderful husband who is also a teacher (he is the Instrumental Music Director at Littleton High School) and have two incredible married daughters...Alyssa who is a first grade teacher in Minnesota  and Julia who is the Instrumental Music Director at Newton Middle School.   We are a teacher family and a musical family!
