Dear Pine Lane Families,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year! I hope your summer was filled with fun and adventure as mine was. I was able to take some time to visit family back on the east coast and eat all of the sea food I could handle. My kids and I spent a lot of time at pools and parks and we had a great summer all around.
I am VERY excited for the upcoming school year! I am proud of all of the work that our world class staff has done over the past couple of years and I am excited to see where this year will take us.
We have spent time this summer with our Building Leadership Team to continue to develop goals and a vision moving forward for Pine Lane Elementary. This work has helped us to plan out our professional development for the first half of our school year, specifically our first three days of time together before we welcome our amazing students back. We are ready for another great year of learning and growing as a staff and community!
Teacher assignments are now available for you on your parent portal account. Please follow this link to log in to your Parent Portal account to view your child(ren)'s teacher assignment for the 2016-2017 school year.
All of our teachers are excited to start the year and build a welcoming, safe, and rigorous learning environment. We all look forward to partnering with you and your children to continue to make our school an incredible place to learn and grow.
As always, please reach out to me any time with any questions or needs that you may have. Thank you and welcome back to school!

CogAT Testing - Week of September 12
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is designed to measure both general and specific reasoning abilities. The development of these abilities begins at birth and continues through early adulthood. In DCSD we use the CogAT as a universal screening tool for all students at the beginning of third grade and sixth grade. We also offer the opportunity for students in grades 1, 2, 4, and 5 to test in order to collect cognitive aptitude data as ONE piece of a body of evidence to be used for the purposes of gifted identification and programming.
Universal Screening Grades 3 & 6
Letters will be sent home to all 3rd and 6th graders. If you would like to opt your child out of this assessment, please contact Candice Laviaguerre - firstname.lastname@example.org.
Referral (parent and/or teacher) Grades 1,2,4,5
Referrals are for parents/teachers who would like to pursue Gifted/Talented identification for a student. If you would like to refer your child for testing, please fill out the Consent to Test form and send it to email@example.com.
