If you'd like more PreK information, click the link: District Preschool Site Preschool Registration Information Preschool enrollment for the 2019-20 school year is open. To be eligible for the 2019-20 school year, a child must be 3 by September 1, 2019. Those children who turn 3 after September 1st, will be able to apply 3 weeks before their 3rd birthday. All children who turn 5 years old before October 1, 2019, are not eligible for preschool and can apply for kindergarten at their neighborhood school. Please share this information with any families you know who might be interested in our wonderful preschool program. | Delay/Closure InformationOn a delayed schedule, Douglas County schools start 90 minutes later than the normal school start time. AM Preschool Class will be cancelled. PM class will not be affected by the delayed schedule. Your preschool teachers are always busy organizing & setting up the classroom for new learning experiences. Over the course of the school year, we will introduce 10 curriculum units with embedded learning activities in the areas of concept development, language skills, motor development, math, science/discovery, sensory exploration, social/emotional competence, music & movement, and creative art experiences. Each of these units will have a targeted theme such as school & me, transportation, farm, health & wellness, fine arts, seasons, Colorado exploration, prehistoric times, or animal habitats. We look forward to an exciting year of learning and building friendships with your preschooler.
During this plan, we will be focusing on diversity and holiday celebrations in our communities during our All Around the World unit. Our story books are Hello World and Whoever You Are. Students will be building vocabulary skills and acting out a variety of sequences related to our theme. At Dramatic play- restaurant theme; Art- we will be mixing colors & media on the easel, designing flags, coffee filter world, making masks/necklaces/bracelets, and gingerbread people; Sensory table- cloud dough & holiday rice w/jewels; Blocks- multicultural dolls, bamboo builders, and recreating world monuments; Songs- Hello Neighbor, Continents song, Jingle Bells, S-A-N-T-A, Jack Be Nimble and; Family Connection: Contribute to Community Food Drive!
