Bobbie van Schaik-Louis ("Mrs. Louis") Learning Specialist

2017 - 2018 will be my ninth year at PCE! Being a learning specialist is my second career; I was an RN for 15 years, working as a nurse for Peace Corps (in Ecuador), San Francisco, and finally Colorado. I love being a learning specialist. It is important to me that you know, as a fellow teacher, and/or a parent, that there is almost no limit to what I'll do to promote the success of your child's learning.

When I am not in school, I love spending time with my husband Chris, and our four girls, Robyn, Maria, Bridget and Julia, and our  son-in-law Josh, and our grand-baby Charlie! I also enjoy running, swimming, riding our road tandem, and reading!

This summer I was able to do a lot of swimming, some running, less biking, and enjoyed the challenge of Manitou Springs' Incline (2,744 steps) with one of my girls. My top book recommendation, for adults, from summer 2017 is an old favorite of mine, which I reread - Peace Like A River, by Leif Enger. My top young adult recommendations come from the very end of the school year: Navigating Early, by Clare Vanderpool and Crossover, by Kwame Alexander. This summer I read Booked, also by Alexander, but without a doubt, Crossover is better!

Just before school starts, I'll celebrate my grand-baby Charlie's 1st birthday! And then, it's back to PCE for a terrific year!
