Dear Parents,

NRE will hold a Science Fair for grades K-6th on January 31st. There will be an open house from 5:30pm-7:30pm for families to check out what our NRE student have accomplished.  The purpose of the STEM Fair is to encourage students to develop a greater interest and awareness of science inquiry and technology and to develop skills in critical thinking, research, and problem-solving.

Science Fairs provide many benefits to students, which encourage their educational and even social development.  Perhaps one of the most valuable benefits is the chance to show, explain, and talk about their projects to others.  While the teachers will be available to advise students, the initiative and responsibility belongs to the student. Parents and other adults are encouraged to support as necessary; however, the work should be done by the student.  Each student participant must be able to demonstrate and explain what was done. The students will be required to create a display board to show their findings for others to see and understand.

Please feel free to utilize the science project packet to organize your project.  STEM projects are often the first experiences that inspire students to take the next steps to becoming professional scientists and engineers.

As a rule, students may not throw snowballs. Children will go out unless there is heavy precipitation, any lightning, or the temperature (with wind chill considered) falls below 20 degrees F.

The NRE students and teachers would like to thank our entire Northridge community for making our annual Fall Festival a huge success! Throughout the week, many generous donations of baked goods were enjoyed by all. Sixth graders furthered many of their 21st Century Skills such as creativity, critical thinking, resilience, and civic responsibility, as they worked to bring their scary visions to life in the haunted house. Thank you for stopping by to experience all of their hard work. Parents and students alike had tons of fun playing games throughout the school. Thanks for coming out, and we will scare see you next year!

1st name drawn = 4 Fast Passes

2nd name drawn = 3 Fast Passes

3rd name drawn = 2 Fast Passes

Please individually wrap all items. Peanut free, tree nut free, gluten free, and dairy free items would be appreciated for students with allergies. We will have a separate table for these items. Please label these items clearly with the ingredients. Any item not labeled will be assumed to contain allergy ingredients. There are recipes online for fun, spooky treats.
