Welcome to Fourth Grade!

About Me

Welcome to a new school year at Bear Canyon Elementary School.  I am looking forward to meeting you and have spent time this summer planning for a wonderful year.  We have so many things to learn this year and I can’t wait to meet you and get started!

I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I am a Colorado native, but grew up mostly in Iowa.  After attending college in Nebraska, I was thrilled to return to Colorado to begin my teaching career.  This is my third year at Bear Canyon Elementary, although I’ve taught for three years at Castle Rock Elementary in 3rd grade, and 12 years at a charter school in Littleton teaching 3rd and 4th grade.  In my free time I love to go hiking, read books, and spend time with family and my little poodle, Lucy.

We will be very busy with lots of hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and creative ways to express our learning.  I’m eager to get started with this new school year and with a great group of terrific students.   We will learn about Colorado History, Energy & Electricity, the Sun & Moon, Life Systems, Multi-Digit Multiplication, Division, and expanding our understanding of the 4 C’s and 21st Century Skills. Students will also continue to build on technology skills and connecting with the world around us. I am confident that together we’ll have a fun and productive year.

I am looking forward to meeting you on August 8th for Bear Canyon’s Meet and Greet.

*Please email me at jcooper@dcsdk12.org so that I can add your email address to my 4th grade contact list.  Thank you!

Your Teacher,

Ms. Cooper

Remind is a free service that lets me send quick messages via text, push notifications, or email to everyone involved with the class. We’ll be able to stay in touch without revealing our personal contact information. Signing up for my messages on Remind is easy.
