About Me

My name is Carolyn Volk, and I'm thrilled to be teaching eighth grade language arts on Team Summit at Cresthill Middle School!  I grew up in Massachusetts just north of Boston and attended University of New Hampshire, where I earned degrees in English and French.  The day after graduation, I got in my car and drove west to Boulder.  After adjusting to amazing Colorado, I attended University of Colorado Boulder and received my M.A. in Secondary Education and English Certification.  I spent the first two years of my teaching career in Fort Morgan,Colorado, before coming to Douglas County.  The first eighteen of my years in the district were in Parker at Sierra Middle School.  Now, I'm beginning beginning year seven as a teacher at Cresthill, and I couldn't be more excited!

I live, with my husband of four years and two dogs, in Green Mountain and spend most of my vacations at our condo in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  I'm an avid reader, so much so that I even read while I drive to and from Green Mountain AND North Carolina.   I have listened to (and will continue to do so) dozens of audio books by authors ranging from Jodi Picoult to Leo Tolstoy.  As a teacher, I live to share my passion for reading, as well as writing, with my students.  I also love spending time outdoors here in Colorado or anywhere near an ocean.

About Missing Work

On a day to day basis, students can access any work they have missed through Google Classroom. Students will join my Google Classroom during the first days of school.  Just in case there's a problem, though, the codes for each of my classes in Google Classroom for 20-21 are as follows:

Period 1: xidkpef

Period 2: bzs33el

Period 3: ev4pc26

Period 4: 6e4wzcu

Period 5: 7n4ysnq

I can be reached at (303) 387-0770, extension 58837, or at carolyn.volk@dcsdk12.org.  E-mail is the very best means for finding out exactly what a student misses on a given day; I will be able to provide the most individualized attention with this manner.
