Home-Welcome to Second Grade

I am so excited to be in another year of second grade! My first teaching job ever was teaching first grade in Hawthorne, California. My husband and I both attended college here in Colorado. I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for my undergraduate and then completed the teaching program at Metropolitan State College of Denver. My husband was attending the United States Air Force Academy. His career in the Air Force brought us to Redondo Beach, California. There I taught first grade for three years and third grade for two years. After three children, and taking some time off to be a stay at home mom, we decided we wanted a better lifestyle for our family. We sold our house and moved to Parker, Colorado. We literally moved here one week before school started! We got settled in and enrolled the kids in school and I became very active at Mountain View. About a month into school, I was hired as an Educational Assistant. I stayed in that role until March. I transitioned into a long term sub in Kindergarten when Mrs. Hendrickson had her first baby. The next year, I continued to do several long term sub positions at Mountain View. It was not until last year that the perfect opportunity arrived. In January, Mrs. Taylor (2nd grade) transitioned into our Building Resource Teacher and I was hired to complete the year with her class. I then transitioned into first grade where I have been for the last two years.
When I am not at school, I am busy with my three wonderful kids. My oldest son, Hayden, will be a junior at Ponderosa High School. He turned 16 this year and is now a licensed driver! He also plays tennis for Ponderosa, has become Dell certified and continues to excel in academics. My daughter, Olivia, will be entering eighth grade at Sagewood Middle School. She will continue to pursue volleyball this year, is my social butterfly, and also has been excelling academically. My youngest, Gavin, will be in fifth grade at Northeast Elementary School. He keeps us busy with baseball and tennis. He loves fishing and collecting animals (we now have lizards and a bearded dragon to go along with the cat and dog)! Gavin, too, has been excelling with academics.
