Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books
at Lone Tree Elementary

Instill the love of reading and promote dialogue and understanding around great books! "Battle of the Books" is organized by Douglas County Libraries and parent volunteers run our very active and successful program at Lone Tree Elementary. This is an invaluable opportunity for students in grades 3-6 to read, engage in fun activities and conversations about books, and culminate their experience by competing in game-show style battles.
Coaches, sign your teams up here  The deadline for coaches to sign up teams is Friday, October 20!

STUDENTS - Don't miss out on the fun...it's time to FORM A TEAM!

  • Form teams of 5-7 and then find an adult who will agree to coach your team.
  • Read great books, practice weekly and compete in game-show style battles at LTE. The winning team for each grade bracket will go on to District Battles sometime in February.
  • All battles will be held with 5 students per team and teams with more than 5 members rotate students throughout the battles

PARENTS - We need volunteers in many areas and appreciate your help!
  • Coach a team–in order for students to participate, they need an adult coach. (Coaching commitment can be as little as one hour a week with your team.)
  • Read the books and help prepare practice battle questions, and/or help on our Battle Days in January
