Lipizzan Science

Hello, and welcome to Team Lipizzan! My name is Jessie Shier, and I am honored to serve as your Science teacher this year. We are going to have a great time together, honing our science skills along the way!

Education is one of my passions. I have worn many hats in my career as an educator, working in rural schools, online schools, and suburban schools. I have taught secondary Science, beginning Spanish, Language Arts, and worked as a general classroom teacher. I strive to foster curiosity in my students, encouraging them to become life-long learners.

I am originally from the Pacific Northwest, but I have lived in Colorado since the end of 7th grade. I graduated from Heritage High School in Littleton and then went north of the border to earn my degree in Zoology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming. During college, I also attended the University of Nottingham for one semester as an exchange student. I also have a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Regis University.

Outside of the classroom, you can usually find me with my family. My husband and I have two sons; both boys attended Cimarron. One is now headed to the University of Northern Colorado, and the other is still at Legend. As a family, we enjoy skiing, camping, and traveling. I also enjoy DIY projects around our home, gardening, exercising, watching sports, and reading. Our dog Buddy rounds out our family.

Feel free to email me at jessie.shier@dcsdk12.org if you have any questions or concerns.

I look forward to getting to know you this year!
