March 19, 2020

 Dear BASE Families,

In an effort to take further action to address the public health threat of COVID-19, yesterday, Governor Polis signed an executive order suspending in-person learning in public and private schools across the state from March 23 to April 17.

The Douglas County School District will be following this executive order, meaning our buildings will remain closed through Friday, April 17. This includes Before and After Care (BASE), preschool programs, and facility rentals.

Per our BASE Parent Handbook, in addition to the credits received for March 16 - 27th, all families will receive credits for every BASE session they have signed up for from Mar 30th - April 17th

BASE Parent Handbook:

District Declared Emergency Closure Days (Snow Days, Facility Emergencies, etc):  If the B.A.S.E. program closes due to District Declared Emergency Closure, parents who have paid for childcare services that day may apply unused monies toward future childcare payments.  These monies must be used in full by the end of the school year.  If the number of emergency closure days exceeds our budget projections, the program may need to raise tuition rates the following year to cover the revenue loss.  These days do not accumulate from year to year, nor are they transferable to other families.

We understand the difficulty this closure presents for families, and want to do what we can to help. Due to the timing and the length of this emergency closure, we will extend the credits into the 2020-2021 school year.  You may also use your credits for the registration fee for the new school year.

Please reach out to us with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Robin Roberts,

IHE BASE Site Manager

Governor Jared Polis announced that the suspension of in-person learning in public and private schools across the state has been extended through Thursday, April 30.

The Douglas County School District will follow the Governor’s executive order and remain closed through Thursday, April 30, and we will continue with remote learning during that time.

 Take Note:

B.A.S.E. uses an online parent portal to enroll students in our program.

This portal is called  "School Care Works." This is different from the "Infinite Campus" parent portal that you use for the school.

$75 to enroll single child families and $100 for multiple child families.

Enrollment can take up to 48 hours to be approved, not including weekends, so please plan ahead!

Once enrollment is approved, you may then access your parent portal and reserve child care sessions. The cost for each session can be found to the right by clicking the "tuition/fees" link.

At this point the drop-in option is not available. You have until 12:00am the night before, to register your child for a session.

Our attendance/accounts are set up for families to reserve and pay for sessions by the Wednesday prior to the week they need care. Families have until midnight the night before a needed session to register their child.

If a session is grey and you are unable to click on that session, then that means the session is full.

Our sessions are first-pay basis for attendance. Children who show up at BASE without being registered for that session will not be allowed to be signed in and if it is after school then the child will be taken to the school office for the parent to pick up. The school office closes at 4:00.

We do not offer refunds, credits, or switching of days.

Parent Resource from Douglas County School District

At this time we are not accepting new families until new staff is hired.

Safety is a priority at BASE.  Once we have hired new staff we will open our enrollment.

Open enrollment will be in May.  More details to come.

The end of school will be here before we know it and we are looking forward to another summer filled with learning and fun! Our program will look a bit different this summer, as we will move our program to a different location.
Due to planned construction work over the summer at our school, our BASE program will be held at Pine Grove BASE (Pine Grove Elementary, 10450 Stonegate Parkway, Parker, 80134, for summer BASE program).
Although our location is changing and our program will be a bit larger this summer, everything else will remain the same. We will continue to provide an educational and fun experience for your child during summer break. Our staff will also make the move and continue working with your child during this time.
