How much do classes cost?

Parent University classes are free of charge for current and prospective DCSD parents and DCSD volunteers. Some courses, like Love and Logic and & Habits for Highly Effective People, maintain a nominal cost for presenter services and materials.

How do I register?

You may register through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Is my registration information shared with anyone else?

Your information is not shared with anyone outside the GRPS district or Parent University program.

Is child care provided? Can I take my children along to the class?

Childcare may be offered for some classes. Unless childcare is provided, it is best for you and the other parents if children do not attend the classes.

Will I receive a confirmation notice?

You should receive a confirmation notice on Parent Portal. You will also receive a reminder notice a few days before the class. If you don’t please, call Katherine Brown, Parent Liaison at 303-387-9505.

What if I cannot attend after registering?

Please let us know immediately so we can cancel your registration. If a last-minute emergency makes it impossible for you to attend, we hope that you will attend the class at another time. Please call 303-387-9505 to cancel.

Do I need to take anything along?

All materials that you need will be supplied at the class, except for a pencil, pen and paper for taking notes.

Do I get any credit for taking these classes?

At this time classes do not offer credit. We hope that future classes will provide GED credit, early college credit or job- training accreditation. A certificate of completion will be given to all class participants.

What if I have other questions?

You can call Katherine Brown at 303-387-9505 at any time.

Who are the teachers? Are they professionals?

All Parent University teachers are professionals in their field. In the future we hope to add their credentials to the course catalog.

What is a MOOC?

Massive Online Open Courses

This is a generic term for free college courses for all.  CAGT has published an article about these programs.

IQ Test Results
by Dr. Veronica Johnson, Envision Clinic, Castle Rock, CO

A number of students have recently taken the CogAT test in Douglas County School District.  It can be nerve-wracking to receive the results, especially if you are anticipating a particular score.  While I’m hopeful that your child’s CogAT results give you information that you already suspected to be true, I believe it helps to have context about what IQ is and what it isn’t.

The first thing to know about IQ test results is that the results do not define your child…

Note:  Please join us on November 9th for a program about understanding your child's IQ test results.  Details are in an above section.
