Testing is upon us!
During the next couple of months, our students in
3rd-5th grades will take the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and Colorado Measure of Academic Success (CMAS). There are two aspects of the PARCC assessment and one for CMAS. For the PARCC assessment, our first aspect begins on March 2nd, 2015. The first part of assessment is called the preformance based assessment and will require about six and half hours of testing in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Math from
March 2nd through the 11th for grades 3rd-5th.
The next phase of testing is CMAS. During this stage students in 4th grade will complete content testing in Social Studies and 5th grade will complete a Science assessment. The testing for CMAS is scheduled for April 14th through the 16th. CMAS will require about three hours of assessment during those three days for 4th and 5th grades.
Finally, our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will complete the PARCC year end assessments. The students will test from April 28th through May 6th on various days in the area of Reading, Writing, and Math. This final aspect of state testing will require about four and half additional hours of testing.
These required state assessments help teachers customize learning to meet student needs and monitor our important work of creating the most effective learning opporturnities for your children. These assessments will be given online and are administered under standarized conditions to ensure the reliability and validity of the results.
For a schedule of grade level testing times, please view the calendar here and select the appropriate month. It is important that students are present and on time on the days of testing. Please avoid scheduling trips and appointments for your child during these days. Also, be sure that your child is well rested and has had a good breakfast on testing days. If you have any questions, please contact the main office at 303-387-5300.
