NAEP

Testing Window October 14–December 20, 2019

NAEP Selected Schools

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) also known as The Nation’s Report Card is given at randomly selected schools.  State and national results will be reported for NAEP grades 4 and 8 mathematics and reading assessments. National results will be provided for the NAEP grades 4 and 8 writing assessments. However, the tests are not designed to produce individual district, school or student data.
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is authorized to conduct these assessments under the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002 (ESRA 2002), 20 U.S. Code, § 9543. By law, the data provided by your schools, staff, and students may only be used for statistical purposes and may not be disclosed, or used, in identifiable form for any other purpose except as required by law (20 U.S. Code, § 9573).  Please note: Colorado students do not participate in the additional optional Student Questionnaire as part of their involvement in the NAEP assessment

Students from your schools will be randomly selected to take part in these assessments.
The NAEP assessments will be administered between October 14, 2019 and December 20, 2019. For most schools, these assessments will be administered in a single day. All NAEP 2019 assessments will be digitally-based and will be administered on NAEP tablets with keyboards. As in previous years, NAEP staff will provide significant support to schools, bring all necessary materials, including tablets, and proctors to administer the assessment. Participating schools will not need to provide any testing devices for digitally-based NAEP assessments. Teachers are asked to be present in the classroom during the assessment, but are not proctoring the test

The different types of tests are as follows:

·        Math, Reading, and Writing for grade 4
