Welcome!

We are the "E" in Castle View High School's STEM Academy.  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and the focus of our engineering program is to teach students how to apply math, science, technology and the engineering process to solve problems.  All students take the Introduction to Engineering course, and from there students can choose between 2 different pathways: Engineering Design and Architectural Design (or they can do both).

We develop our student's problem solving skills through hands-on projects starting with structured projects in the lower level courses to master the basics, and move to less structured / more creative projects in the higher level courses to apply their skills.  As class projects become more free-form we encourage students to work on projects that not only meet the requirements of our courses, but that also can be entered in student competitions hosted by the state Technology Students Association (TSA) and other organizations.

Our primary teaching tools include:
Engineering III students prepare for and take the Certified Solidworks Associate (CSWA) exam.  Students passing that exam can add that industry and college recognized credential to their resumes and college applications, in addition to earning dual credit (3 college credits) from Arapahoe Community College (ACC) for the CAD255 course.  Engineering IV students can prepare for and take the Certified Solidworks Professional (CSWP) exam.  We also encourage our seniors to participate in Castle View's internship program where students are placed at local engineering and architecture firms.  Students considering careers in those fields can validate their plans through real world experiences in the industry.

Finally, to extend student learning beyond the classroom, we have a Technology Students Association (TSA) club that meets weekly where students at any grade and ability level, whether beginning or advanced, can work together to develop entries for competitions.
