Parent Connections CMS 17-18

Parent Connections - An Opportunity for 2017-18 Parents!

Cresthill’s counseling office will provide parent(s)/guardian(s) the opportunity to gain some insight/understanding of a variety of topics associated with middle school. Parents may sign up for one and/or all of the following sessions. There is no additional cost for these classes. Each session will run concurrently with New Beginnings. Sign up information is currently available.

Team UP -

Team UP (Universal Prevention) will be on hand to discuss our Douglas County Student Wellness Prevention framework, how to access more information, and lead some classes around Effective Communication skills when working with middle school adolescents. They will also address working with anxiety as related to the middle grades.

Strategic Game Planning for Middle School

Setting the stage for a smooth and successful transition into middle school will guide the conversation within this session. We will share some ‘pre-game’ planning that could enhance your child’s transition to middle school. Discussions around decision-making, choice, accountability, time-management, expectations, and communication will be part of the discussion.

Deputy Jay Martin and our Y.E.S.S. program -

Our very own Deputy Jay Martin will be leading the discussion on current trends and challenges students face when it comes to middle level adolescents. He will also provide us some resources to help keep our students safe.

Tech Maneuvers for Middle School

Communication will be the focal point of this session. Components of Infinite Campus (IC), school/teacher websites, eBlasts, and other technical tools will be shared. In addition, parents will be introduced to a multitude of technological tools integrated into the classroom.

Day in the Life of Middle School

This session will cover Cresthill’s framework to include ‘team concept’ and a review of the whys/hows students are placed on teams. Discussions will describe our PAWS as it relates to our schedule. In addition, this session will provide information pertaining to extracurricular activities available to Cresthill students.

Journey Learning

What is journey learning? What does journey learning look like in middle school? What is SHARES? What does it stand for? How does SHARES relate to Cresthill and the surrounding community? If you would like answers to these questions, then this session is for you!
