Quinn Family

Family trip to London, England

Hello! I'm Carolyn Quinn and I am excited to be back in sixth grade to teach Literacy in the afternoon. Along with sixth grade, I have a couple of new roles this school year -  Professional Learning Specialist and Gifted and Talented Interventionist. For sixth grade it will be a job share with Marie Stanton.  In the mornings I will be an advanced learning teacher for math for grades fourth, fifth, and sixth. And, for the Professional Learning Specialist position, I will be supporting a couple of teachers in their new roles.

Arrowwood has been a great place for me to grow. I will be in my eighth year teaching at Arrowwood Elementary. I have taught third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade here at Arrowwood.  In my educational background, I completed my master's degree in elementary education from Grand Canyon University. My other experiences in education stem from being an instructional aide, reading specialist, and a part-time Spanish teacher. Before my career in education, I worked for several years in the telecommunications industry as a network designer and manager. I changed careers in order to be with my children and to have a more rewarding career, which I have found in education.

On a personal note, I have been married for twenty-five years to Kevin and have three amazing daughters (Serena, Sofie, and Sian). We love to travel as a family. Our favorite places are Disneyland and New York City. And, our new favorite places to travel abroad are London, England and Ennis, Ireland.  We also enjoy road trips in Colorado and even out towards Wisconsin to visit my family.

Here are a few of my favorite things, I love to cook, bake, and decorate my home. I enjoy spending time with my family playing board games, watching movies, hiking, and traveling.

On a final note, as your child's teacher, my goal is to help your child see that learning is fun and rewarding. I will keep the students engaged through collaborative hands-on activities. My belief is to have a nurturing environment by providing positive reinforcement in which students will feel comfortable in the classroom. As for you, the parents, I want us to work together by keeping the lines of communication open in order discuss what is best for your child's education.

Here's to a good year!

Mrs. Quinn's Classroom Culture

I became a teacher in order to provide a positive fun learning environment where students will feel safe and at home. The students will be very engaged in their learning through collaborative hands-on activities. My goal is to keep students motivated and focused to want to learn more and ask more questions.

Another goal for my students is to have them become good honest citizens for our world. By building a community within the classroom where we help each other and work hard to achieve our goals.

My motto for my class: Work hard, be kind and you will be successful.
