Personally Owned Devices

As we strive to deliver a World-Class Education for our students, we believe that allowing students to use digital tools can open more learning opportunities in our classrooms.

That is why the District is allowing students to use Personally Owned Devices (P.O.D.s). The goal is to leverage these devices, so that students have access to learning applications and online information throughout the school day, not just when they are in a computer lab or when using school-owned devices. Any student, grades 3-5, who would like to bring a P.O.D to BRE must complete the online permission form and turn in the POD Waiver to their classroom teacher.  For more information, please view the presentation on P.O.D.s.

DCSD Early Childhood Education

The DCSD Early Childhood Department is happy to be a part of  the wonderful community of Buffalo Ridge Elementary School. The teachers are looking forward to delivering a World Class Education to its youngest learners and, in doing so, matching the high standards of the rest of the school. The  preschool uses a balanced, child centered approach to build a solid social and educational foundation for each student. The curriculum is research based, developmentally appropriate and aligned to state standards.   • Boosterthon
    We are excited to kick off our Boosterthon Glow Fun Run for this year. 
    Students participated in an all school assembly to introduce our event for this year.  This year’s theme is Castle Quest and has great character building activities for our students each day.  Focus, Self-Awareness, Respect,Trustworthiness, Creativity, and Life-Learner are the character traits the Boosterthon team will be working on with the students. This is our student based fundraiser in which the proceeds will be put towards our math curriculum and instruction.  Look for more information coming home from your child about this fun event!

  • Annual Back to School Carnival
    BRE’s Annual Back-to-School Carnival will take place, rain or shine, on August 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 at BRE. We will have bouncy houses, a visit from the local fire station and police K-9 unit, face painting, dessert trucks, a dunk tank, and more! Parent volunteers are desperately needed!  Most volunteer shifts are only 30 minutes.  Sign up here to volunteer at the Carnival.

  • Solar Eclipse & All School Picnic on Monday, Aug. 21st

    As many of you may be aware, there will be a solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st at 11:47am local time.  This is a unique and very infrequent event so we felt it important to recognize and experience the Solar Eclipse.  We have purchased eclipse glasses for every student and staff member with the ISO 12312-2 rating required to safely view the eclipse. Leading up to the eclipse, we will be teaching our students about the eclipse, how it happens, and most importantly, how to view it safely.  On the day of the eclipse, we are going to have an all school picnic on the field at BRE.  With the peak of the eclipse at 11:47am (92% coverage) it is a great time to have the entire school outside, eating a picnic lunch and viewing the eclipse.  Students will need to bring a sack lunch and may want to bring a towel or small blanket to sit on. If parents would like to join us for our picnic and viewing, you are welcome to attend.  We do have some extra pairs of eclipse glasses for parents as well.

  • 2017-18 School Year Registration
    We are continuing to register for the 2017-18 school year. Paperwork is available on the BRE Website by going to green tab at the top “registration” and selecting 2017-2018 New Student Registration. Please download, print, complete, and bring the entire packet when you come to the school to register.  Also, please bring your student’s birth certificate, shot records, and proof of residency (deed, warranty deed, purchase contract, tax notice, or lease). If you have further questions, please call Christy Smith at 303-387-5575.

Fundraising Reminders

Don't forget to use your King Soopers Gift Cards. BRE receives 5% back on all purchases (groceries and gas) at all King Soopers or City Markets. If you don't have a card already, you can pick up a form at school under the BRE bulletin board.


Our Box Tops challenges are a huge success with our BRE families collecting Box Tops from items they are already purchasing. We hope you will continue to collect more Box Tops for our next BRE Box Tops challenge!

Did you know you can link your Target Red Card VISA (not a debit card) back to BRE so our school can earn 1% back on all your purchases made through your card?  While 1% may not seem like much, dollars spent at Target can really add up over a year.
