BE IN YOUR SEAT WITH SUPPLIES OUT WHEN CLASS BEGINS: Students have three-minute passing periods between classes. This is more than enough time for students to get to class on time since classrooms are just across the pod or down the hall from each other.
EMAILING TEACHERS: As seventh graders, students are expected to contact teachers directly. In order to stress clear communication, please follow the correct email expectations (link). If these expectations are not met, we will ask you to rewrite your email and send it again. And please check your email. We DO reply!!
Parents, please know that we are stressing the importance of self-advocacy this year. We are more than happy to hear from you! Please help us support your student by encouraging them to personally reach out to teachers.
USE A PLANNER to keep track of all assignments! (school-provided, store-bought, or phone)
CHECK YOUR GRADES: It is the student’s responsibility to do this at least once a week and see the teacher if there are concerns. Infinite Campus Link
ABSENCES: The Blazer team and Cimarron policy allows for 1 day PLUS the number of absent days to make up the assignment without a late penalty. It is the student’s responsibility to…
check the Classroom Weekly Agendas BEFORE returning to class.
record any missed work in your planner.
complete missed assignments.
follow up with the teacher if necessary.
LATE WORK POLICY: Any assignment that is past two weeks late will not be accepted for credit and given a grade of 0 (zero).
Any assignment turned in past the assigned due date/time will be docked one point. (Ex: Original score of 3.5 becomes 2.5.)
***The Blazer Team understands there are exceptions that occur outside of an individual’s control. These will be dealt with on an individual basis to best meet the needs of students.
RETAKES: This opportunity varies by teacher. See each class’s policies for more information.
CELL PHONES & HEADPHONES/AIR PODS/EARBUDS: Phones are to be in backpacks and turned off - only to be used with the teacher’s approval. All headphones, air pods, and earbuds should remain in backpacks (not in pockets or in shirts).
TARDIES: Students should be in their seats with supplies out when class starts. Please provide yourself enough time in order to arrive at school BEFORE 7:55 am.
SUBSTITUTES: Zero tolerance policy behavior for substitute teachers. If a child’s name is left by the substitute, a referral will be written and parents will be contacted.
BATHROOM: Students have a three-minute passing period, and it is therefore expected that students use this time wisely, rather than using class time for breaks. We ask that students do not use the bathroom during the first 10 or last 10 minutes of class. Students will be provided 12 opportunities to use the restroom as needed each quarter via a hall pass. This will include water breaks and trips to the health room. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis.
READING BOOK: Students should have a reading book (paper or electronic) with them at all times.
