Introduction

Welcome to Nokota Team!

My name is Barb Loibl and this is my fourth year at Cimarron Middle School. I am very excited and happy to be here! I have a bachelors degree in Education and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. This year will be my 25th year teaching. Since being in Colorado, I taught 11 years of fourth grade at Iron Horse Elementary before coming to Cimarron. Prior to that, I taught kindergarten, second, and third grade in North Dakota.

I am originally from North Dakota, but moved to Colorado in 2004. I have two sons; Nate who is 21 and goes to the University of Colorado Boulder, and Nash who is 17 and a senior at Legend High School. As a family, we love all types of sports. The Denver Nuggets, Denver Broncos, and the Minnesota Vikings are some of our favorite teams. Personally, I love to work out and be active. I have completed many different races such as half-marathons, triathlons, and obstacle races.

In sixth grade social studies we will not only learn about geography, history, economics, and civics, but we will learn about how the world works and our impact on the world. We will learn about how where we live affects how we live, and how past events affect us now and for our future. We will study both personal economics along with global economics and its impact on society. We learn about our roles as active citizens at the local, state, national, and global level. In sixth grade we explore the Western Hemisphere which will include North America, Middle America, and South America. Get ready for a fun adventure!

I am excited and anxious to get to know you all this year as we learn and grow together.
