Curriculum and Special Programs

We have critical content from kindergarten through sixth grade in the areas of reading, language arts, and math. Click here for the link to critical content.

Our school uses Balanced Literacy to teach reading and language arts. This program consists of several components including: read aloud, shared reading, guided reading, independent reading, directed reading/book clubs, interactive writing, interactive editing, directed writing/writer's workshop, and independent writing. The strategies we use are from the CELL/EXLL program. You can find out more information by clicking on the CELL/EXLL link on the left-hand side of this page.

Our math program is Eureka Math. This math program is one of the first fully aligned to the Nevada Academic Content Standards. Eureka Math connects math to the real world in ways that take the fear out of math and build student confidence—while helping students achieve true understanding lesson by lesson and year after year. The program was created by teachers from across the country. You can find more information at http://greatminds.net/maps/math/home. We also utilized ST (Spatial Temporal) Math. Students refer to it as Jiji. Student utilize Chromebooks, iPads, and desktop computers to work through the program twice a week.
