Facilities Update

posted Jul 17, 2017, 9:59 AM by Mary Shaffner   [ updated Jul 17, 2017, 10:07 AM ]

Friday was the Topping Off ceremony at Delano Hall, to thank the construction site workers for all their hard work on the project. A number of our board members and staff joined, as well as Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon Todd.  Everyday, between 150 and 200 workers are on site.  Handoff is scheduled to be on 8/14.  New teachers will start 8/16.

Delano Hall is looking great and is very close to being complete on the inside!  MCN Build, our General Contractor, continues to make tremendous progress.  The floors are finished, the light fixtures are in, and they are doing detail painting.   We will be welcoming students into Delano Hall while work on the the Science / Art /Gym wing continues.  The new wing is also progressing really well and is on schedule to be completed during the school year as planned.

Amazing progress has been made in the last 2 months!

In the middle of December, DCI closed on the financing for Delano Hall.  Many thanks to Bank of America, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, The Reinvestment Fund, Building Hope and OSSE, all who are lenders on this project.

Delano Hall is full steam ahead with demolition completing on the bottom floors and framing out of space already happening on the top floor.  Mary Shaffner was on site Tuesday December 21 where she joined the 143 people working on the building.

We look forward to 2017 and we will keep you updated on progres.

In these last weeks there has great progress on Delano Hall.  The City and Army signed their transfer documents on 9/30 and they report that they are on schedule for an end of the month conveyance of the property.  This is great news.

The project and our efforts have received press in three local publications:
On site, they have begun work.  A future DCI and current Mundo Verde parent captured this photo and sent it in.

Thank you for your support!  We will continue to update you here on our Facilities Blog!
