Project Overview

Calvin Coolidge Senior High School, located at 6315 5th Street NW, consists of one building and the Frank Williams Activity Center, totaling approximately 314,943 square feet. The Coolidge building was erected in 1940 and the Frank Williams Center was constructed in 1984.  The facility currently is oversized for the current population and presents various operational challenges.

The modernized facility aims to correct many of the existing conditions, and will introduce a middle school addition, a community health clinic and a day care center to the site. The project will also provide facility and site enhancements to the Frank Williams Activity Center. The project also intends to provide site and operational improvements to the building and the exterior field. The building will feature two atrium spaces and provide a unified campus for the high school based athletic and specialty programs.

During the modernization, the school will swing into modular trailers built to the north of the building. The high school will accommodate approximately 675 students, and the middle school will accommodate approximately 550 students. The building will meet or exceed sustainability guidelines for LEED - Gold Certification.
