Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at Shady Grove!  We hope you have had a fun and active summer.

The Physical Education program at Shady Grove is dedicated to the development of the "whole" student.  Your student will have physical education every day.  Our program will offer opportunities for your students to grow and develop mentally, physically, socially and emotionally.  "Doing one's best" is our motto, and our goal is to teach the importance of health and fitness.

Your child will be participating in some of the following activities during the year:  SGES 2016 Summer Olympics, soccer, dance, sport stacking, fitness testing, juggling and parachute games, cooperative games, basketball, lacrosse, t-ball/softball, gymnastics, and much more.

Additionally, at the beginning of each class session, we will warm up with Jogging All Stars (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or an aerobic workout (Tuesday and Thursday).

We would like for all students to participate in each and every class.  However, we understand that there are times when participation in all or part of a class is not feasible.  If your student needs to sit out for P.E. for a day or two, please send a note from home.  However, if your student is required to miss P.E. for several days, please provide a doctor's note.  And, if you student is unable to participate due to doctor's orders, please send a note once he/she is cleared to return to P.E.

For safety reasons, we ask that all students wear tennis shoes for P.E.  Depending on the day's activity, students who do not wear tennis shoes may be asked to sit out or do an alternative activity.

If you have any questions or concerns about Shady Grove's P.E. program, please feel free to call (998-4719) or email (hookerj@davie.k12.nc.us).
