You may wonder what kind of town is Darrington?

Darrington is a community that has strong ties to it's mountainous surroundings, we mark time by the changing seasons and appreciate the rich heritage that shaped us. It is also well known for its many colorful events and is home to the famous Darrington Bluegrass Festival and Timberbowl Rodeo.  The SummerMeltdown and Spur Festival are held annually in the summertime at the Darrington Bluegrass Grounds. Our neighbors to the north, the Sauk-Suiattle Tribe,  share their rich culture and heritage during their annual Pow Wow .  Our archery range is well known around the world and is the only Permanent World Class Archery Range in the U.S.  The Darrington Municipal Airport is very unique as it is easy walking right into town.

We appreciate the rich heritage that shaped our community.

The first to settle in the area were the people of the Sauk-Suiattle Tribe.  When gold was discovered in 1889 prospectors flooded into the Cascade mountains and the boom town of Darrington began.  Later in 1901 when the first train reached Darrington logging and sawmills began operation.
