Welcome to Ox Ridge Strings

Ox Ridge Beginning Strings Program:

Your child will have the opportunity to begin learning the violin, viola or cello in the Beginning String Program.

The Beginning String Program in Darien has been designed to be musically and socially educational. It enhances the growth of the student by being responsive to the individual needs of each player.

The program involves weekly in-school half-hour, small group lessons of similar instruments and a  minimum of two performances each year. Each child is expected to practice at least 60 minutes a week.

If you think your child would be interested in taking a string instrument, please discuss his or her choice carefully.

Ox Ridge Orchestra Program

The Ox Ridge Orchestra is comprised of 4th and 5th graders who have elected to continue their progress on their string instrument or switch to another, including the double-bass.

The orchestra performs two or more concerts each year: a winter concert at Ox Ridge, a spring concert at DHS, and often additional opportunities that arise.

The program involves weekly in-school half-hour, small group lessons of similar instruments as well as a large group rehearsal every Tuesday at 8:00.

Each child is expected to practice at least 60 minutes a week.
