Graduation Awards

Dante Alighieri is very proud of the academic achievement of its students. Especially, students from the Graduating Class every year are honored with the following awards:

GRADUATION AWARDS
 
Academic Excellence Award:  The recipient of this award is the graduating student who has achieved the highest average for their graduating year.
 
Angela Piscitelli Arts Scholarship:  The recipient of this award recognizes a graduating student who has demonstrated an extraordinary passion, commitment, and proficiency for one or more areas of the Arts: music, visual, drama, media or dance and whose voice is heard through this form of communication. 
 
CSAC Award:  The recipient of this award recognizes an IPRC’d graduating student who has achieved academic excellence. 
 
The Dante Alighieri Academy Catholic Student Award:  The recipient of this award recognizes a graduating student in the Dante community who has shown a commitment to Catholicity and Catholic Values in their everyday life at Dante.  The student has demonstrated a commitment to fostering a positive and spiritual environment in the community.
 
The Dante Alighieri Academy Spirit Award: The recipients (one male, one female), of this award have displayed an exceptional level of involvement in the Dante Community. They have shown leadership and true school spirit as they have been involved in a myriad of extra-curricular activities.
 
Dante Alighieri Academy Student Council Award:  This award honours a student or students who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to the Dante community through their involvement in Dante’s student council. 
 
Maria Rosa Dalsass Award:  This award recognizes a student who demonstrates intellectual growth, a determination to succeed, strives towards independence, overcome personal challenges and shows compassion towards others.
 
Governor General’s Award for Excellence:  This award recognizes the graduating student who has achieved the combined highest average for their grade 11 and 12 year.
 
Karl Heinz Weisen Graphic Graphic Arts Award:  This award recognizes a student who has exhibited an exceptional level of artistic talent in painting and drawing and its application to various forms.
 
Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award:   This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism specifically outside of the Dante community that goes beyond the mandated volunteer hours needed to graduate.
 
The Sisters of St. John the Baptist Award:   This award recognizes a graduating student that has excelled academically, socially, and personally in spite of facing a challenging situation.
 
Toronto Secondary Unit Award: This award is presented to a graduating student who has demonstrated a strong sense of social and political responsibility, as evidenced by their participation in activities which show a strong motivation toward achieving social justice and fostering moral values.
 
Valedictorian Award:  This award is given to the valedictorian who has been chosen by his or her peers to represent them and to deliver the valedictory address for the 2010-2011 graduating class.
 
Brian Moniz Dramatic Arts Production and Technical Scholarship Award:  This award is presented to a graduating student who has demonstrated an extraordinary passion, commitment and excellence in school theatrical productions.
 
The U of T Book:  Presented to a graduating student who was nominated for the U of T National Scholarship based on academic achievement and an essay competition.
 
Friends of Dante Award:  Presented to graduating students who live out Christian values in their personal life, have positive, upbeat personalities and are sensitive to other students.
