Preschool Special Education

Our preschool classrooms offer individualized programs for children who have been identified through

the PPT (Planning and Placement Team) process as having a delay in one or more developmental areas.

(See Preschool Screening & Assessment.)

The staff consists of a special education teacher and a

paraprofessional aide and tutors as needed.  Additional services are provided from speech pathologists,

occupational therapists, physical therapists, adapted physical education teachers, a music therapist, social

worker, and nurses.

Typical/Role Model children (children who have no identified delays) provide models for our children.

(These children are chosen through a lottery in the spring, from children who live in the Danbury School

District.  To be considered please contact one of the preschool teachers in that building.)

There is a 50:50 ratio between identified and typical children.

The classrooms use the CT Framework, Preschool Curricular Goals and Benchmarks.  For classroom

hours and schedule, ask your classroom teacher.
