Welcome to our campus!

The King Street Campus is comprised of two buildings, the Primary and Intermediate schools.  King Street Primary School (KSP) is home to Kindergarten through Third Grade students with approximately 450 students.  Up the "hill" from the Primary building, fondly known as the big school, is King Street Intermediate.  King Street Intermediate (KSI) is home our Fourth and Fifth Grade with approximately 400 students.  The King Street Intermediate School welcomes students from both King Street Primary and Mill Ridge Primary Schools.  Great efforts are spent to integrate the two primary schools together prior to arriving as fourth graders to build a greater sense of community.  The school supports activities such as pen-pal exchange, Fourth Grade Transition night, third-grade class visits and tours with team building activities supported by third-grade teachers from both KSP and MRP.  Most recently, and unique to KSI, the King Street pledge was enhanced by a Mill Ridge Morning routine.  This change captures our true efforts to welcome all new Fourth Graders into their new school.

The campus students follow the King Street Tiger STRIPES: Safety, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Personal Best, and Empathy.   The school pledge was built on these foundational expectations and is recited every morning by students, led by the student morning announcers.   In each building, the students participate in School-wide Community Time and classroom meetings to teach our expectations, being mindful of learning from our mistakes, to extend Kindness and using the growth mindset.

The campus families are very important to the work of the school.  Starting with communication with a weekly message delivered to our parent contacts in their preferred language of English, Spanish and Portuguese.  A seasonal newsletter called the ROAR is emailed home and paper copies are made available.  The ROAR includes a letter from the principal, timely information from the nurse, academic specialists, special area teachers, and district music or enrichment opportunities available.   The parents form a very strong support network of the campus, by being part of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  The PTO helps to provide tools for our campus staff for our students and helps keep parents knowledgeable and informed of the educational policy and local budget.  Information about the school's Title 1 resignation and use of Title 1 funds are shared at PTO meetings and more formally at the campus Open House evenings, and feedback accepted through family surveys to ensure all stakeholders have opportunities for input.

Dr. Kristina Hislop and Mrs. Gwen Gallagher have open door policy, have scheduled "Coffee with Administrators" throughout the school year, attend all monthly night meetings and are available at the afternoon PTO recap meeting the following morning.  In addition to our school administration, we have support staff to support our students in academic and behavioral needs. We work together and are all here to support the students and families of King Street Campus.
